Greetings from Australia. My name is Kevin Martin, though most of my friends and family call me Kev. This page is to provide you with a short overview of who I am, where I come from, that sort of stuff.
I live in Frankston, near Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, with my dogs, cats and axolotls. However, I've lived (and learned) in a large number of places before settling here some 10 years ago. I was born in Wales in the United Kingdom, immigrating to Australia with my family in 1974. We started in Tasmania (a truly divine place), but 'itchy feet' had me exploring the mainland not long after I left school in 1980. I then spent the Eighties and early Nineties living in various parts of Australia, working in a variety of jobs, before coming to Melbourne in 1993, to return to education.
That education consisted of my 'VCE' (the local name for years 11 & 12 of High school) at a technical college, a 2 year Diploma in Professional Writing & Editing, a four year degree in Communications, and finally a 3 month course in Small Business Management. During that time I also worked in different fields, most notably a local HIV/AIDS prevention program for several years. I was also learning much about computers, mostly from books & magazines. Around 1996, I discovered the Internet, including the World Wide Web, which led me to also teach myself about HTML. I began to dream of some day making a living from combining web design and writing.
That dream is beginning to come to life now, as my new business, Supportive Solutions, evolves into reality. Essentially, I am a freelance 'computer guy', providing services from web design and graphics to hardware help, maintenance, training, and of course writing & editing.
