My arrival into the world was in San Antonio, Texas, where a band of brave Americans died defending the Alamo. It occurred on the day that the U.S. Marines took Mt. Suribachi in an iconic battle of World War II. A few months later we returned to my family's hometown of Springfield, Illinois, famous for its association with President Abraham Lincoln who presided over the Civil War. This early background might seem fated to lead one to specialize in writing military history. I have written professionally for more than thirty years. I have written for magazines and newspapers. I have written advertising copy and business publications. I have written speeches, political campaign material and newsletters. I have written video scripts and books. I have never written one word about military history. So much for fate.
My first contribution to SelfHelpGuides.com is on buying an old house. I have done this three times and am still married to the same man. He has strongly suggested there will not be a fourth time. There will be. (We'll keep that our little secret.)
