Coral Atkinson, Irish by birth and New Zealand by experience, is a qualified teacher, who has worked in the area of publishing and writing for a number of years. She lives in Governors Bay in New Zealand's South Island.

Coral established her own educational publishing firm Cabbage Tree Publications in 1981 and went on to work as publicist and manager for several New Zealand publishers. She currently tutors part-time at the Whitireia Community Polytechnic Publishing Diploma course (the only professional publishing training available in New Zealand.) along with teaching other publishing and writing related seminars.

Coral also works as a writer and has been published in New Zealand, Ireland and England. In 200 her co-authored book Recycled People: Forming new relationships in mid-life was published by Shoal Bay Press. She has won several awards for her short stories and is currently writing a historical novel.
