I was born in Belgium. I lived 30 years in France as a research scientist and retired in the USA where I live happily in Savannah, Georgia, close to my family.
You see me on this picture playing with a young neighbor. It was a lesson about surface tension. The photo was taken by photographer Stephen Berend when working for our local newspaper, the Savannah Morning News.
The kids in my neighborhood cannot pronounce my name "Claude" so they call me "Miss Cloud", and I like my new name very much.
I published of course a number of scientific papers (about 50 in English), edited a few books, published 2 books and a series of short stories for a newspaper (in French).
I am a gifted teacher: my students do not fail. I think that it is because I am good at understanding what they do not understand; I inherited the gift and a large range of teaching tricks from my mother who was an educator.
